"The last few years have been very difficult. I was faced with losing parts of me that made me a woman. It made me think differently about life as I knew I was going to have to face challenges that you never ever think about.
The things that got me through the illness were thinking positively and having my friends and my family around me. This gave me the strength to just get on with it and now I want to use this love and support to start a new chapter. You can do anything you want in life, I promise you that! Hopefully this summer will be fun glittering you all at festivals with the Katie's Heart team!"
"Two years ago my best friend was diagnosed with cervical cancer. After having a hysterectomy at age 36 she got back on her feet and we celebrated Christmas. This was short lived, only a month later Katie was then diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast removal and chemotherapy followed and now two years on my friend is back to how I remembered her. A few bits may be missing, the hair is back but one thing never left, her spirit. I call it 'Katie's Heart.' She is my inspiration. Any time I have to face a challenge I think about how she faced hers. Step one, she got out of bed, put her Queen Greatest Hits full blast on the stereo and sang her heart out whilst hoovering. I'll never forget that. Her journey to recovery started in that moment. She chose to adapt to the changes in her body, she chose to laugh at how tough it was going to be and she chose to focus. The journey continues as I support my best friend through the next chapter. This business is a fresh start, new skills to learn, new people to meet and a chance to prove that you can come out the other side"
